Following a fall in visitor numbers during the low season in recent years the administration of Zoomarine in Guia has decided not to open the park this winter.
The doors closed to the public on November 1 and will reopen in March 2011.
It is the first time in 10 years that Zoomarine has closed in winter.
Zoomarine Marketing Director Pedro Ferreira said: “From November to March, the park is not profitable. Like other sea life theme parks in Europe, we have decided to close this year during winter.”
He added that the services relating to the welfare of the animals will remain operational.
