THE INAUGURAL Zonda International Invitational Pairs Golf Tournament took place on the Island of Madeira recently, where a total of 20 golfers braved the Palheiro course in windy and, at times, foggy conditions.
The greens were especially tricky, very fast and with subtle undulations. The first prize went to Vila Sol’s Colin and Pat Thornley, the first winners of the Zonda Trophy, pictured being presented with the trophy by Judith Lewis. The runners-up, also from Vila Sol, were Mike and Diane Poole (pictured left). All participants enjoyed the weeklong stay in Madeira and are looking forward to next year’s tournament in Morocco.
