Every year it is the same: police and authorities highlight how many people die as a result of drink-driving – and the accidents and deaths continue. Today, the PSP, ANSR (road traffic authority) and GNR police are trying yet again to highlight the dangers, warning that three out of every four road deaths are still down to alcohol consumption. The latest road traffic campaign is dubbed “Taxa Zero ao Volante” – meaning “Zero Tolerance at the Wheel”. It means what it says. Police will be out in force all week trying to enforce it.
