Zealous tax inspectors to take home “double pay” for “sterling work”

Tax inspectors whose zeal in recovering money owed to the State has brought millions pouring into government coffers are to be rewarded with double pay-packets, starting this month.

According to media reports, the government has set aside €57 million to “recompense” inspectors who “superseded objectives” set for debt-recovery in 2014. A ‘record’ €1.15 billion is reported to have been raised. Bonuses will be paid in May, September and December.
