INTERNATIONAL CHILDREN’S television channel, Nickelodeon, sent a team of talent scouts to Algarve Shopping, in Guia, earlier this month, to seek out potential candidates to participate in the ‘Nickelodeon Family Competition’, a contest to find a real life family in Portugal to feature in a new cartoon series. According to Nickelodeon, 120 families have already registered to participate in the contest.
The channel’s talent scouts were at NorteShopping in Porto last week, and will be taking their roadshow to Lisbon’s Colombo shopping centre this weekend (May 26 to 28).
The search for the new cartoon stars will continue until the end of June and Nickelodeon hope to produce and broadcast the show sometime after July. The series will comprise of 10 episodes, each of which will be one-and-a-half minutes long.
Nickelodeon will select three families who will fight it out for the grand prize. As well as featuring in a cartoon series on television, the winning family will also be offered a holiday at the Hotel Nickelodeon in Florida, US.
