Following stark warnings at the beginning of the season that west coast beaches – particularly around Lisbon – will be even more dangerous this summer due to a natural change in wave directions, a young swimmer has died on the Costa da Caparica. The 28-year-old disappeared while swimming with friends at the weekend. His body was washed up on a nearby beach on Monday.
