20-year-old has yet to be found
A 20-year-old French man who had been arrested for breaking into cars in Olhão was able to escape police custody by climbing out an open ground-floor window at Olhão Court on Tuesday.
The young man made his escape after being told by PSP police officers that there was an international warrant for his arrest issued by French authorities due to similar crimes in France.
Once he realised that he would likely be extradited to France to serve jail time, he is believed to have taken advantage of a “momentary distraction” to climb out the window and flee, reports TVI.
PSP police are searching for the suspect who remains at large.
