Another violent accident on the EN125, this time at Ferreiras, near Albufeira, saw a 26-year-old driver suffer “very serious injuries” on Saturday and be rushed into intensive care in Faro Hospital.
According to a report in Correio da Manhã, the young man has been put into an induced coma and is “fighting for his life”.
The accident – coming in a year where 12 people have already been killed on the so-called ‘death road’ – appears to have involved a meat truck, which then ploughed into a post.
CM talks of a head-on collision between the truck and the young driver’s Opel Corsa, but the GNR traffic police are still said to be investigating.
