Young dancers to perform in aid of Ukrainian refugees

Classical Academy of Ballet announces charity show in Lagoa

Young dancers from Lagoa’s Classical Academy of Ballet (CAB) will perform on Wednesday, July 6 at the Carlos do Carmo auditorium in a bid to raise donations for Ukrainian refugees.

The performance, entitled ‘Gala da Paz’ (Gala of Peace), will take place at 7pm and be free to attend for anyone who makes a monetary donation or donates something from the long list of needed items.

These range from first-aid items – bandages, compresses, disinfectants, scar creams, pain killers, a wide range of medications, ethanol, and disposable masks – to baby products, such as diapers and wet wipes.

Food, including canned goods, chocolate, biscuits, tea, coffee and energy bars, and every-day hygiene products, such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, shaving cream and razor blades, are also needed.

Donations will be delivered to refugees in need by local association SOS Oncológico.

The Classical Academy of Ballet is an internationally awarded dance school, having recently been awarded the Outstanding School Award at the Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP) in Berlin, Germany.

The school teaches several styles, from Classical Ballet and Contemporary to Acro Dance, Jazz and Modern Dance, and is open to children aged from four all the way to 18. Every year, students are taken to different competitions around the world to showcase their talent.
