Around 23 young climate activists have been arrested today in two separate incidents. The first involved an attempt to “occupy” the premises of the ministry of infrastructure in Lisbon. The second came outside the ministry of environment. These latest demonstrations are believed to be part of a drive towards ‘forcing’ an early end to fossil fuels. The rallying cry has been for 100% use of renewable and affordable electricity in Portugal by 2025 (something that is very unlikely to happen).
