Scores of people, from the very old to the very young, joined forces in Lisbon’s Campo de Ourique yesterday, to protest a plan for the extension of the Metro which will imply the destruction of the only green space in the area, Jardim da Parada. The idea is to cut down several centenarian trees. Protestors stress they are ready to take legal action. They claim there are alternatives (in terms of routes) that would save the little park and still allow the Metro to expand.
