The Algarve surfer won her third consecutive victory in the opening stage of the European qualifying circuit.
Yolanda Hopkins won the Boardmasters, QS1000 and the inaugural stage of the 2023/2024 European regional qualifying circuit at Fistral Beach in England.
The current European champion became three times champion of this event (2019, 2022 and 2023), having defeated the British Alys Barton in the final with a score of 13.40 points (6.83 + 6.57 points) against her opponent’s 12.36.
It was a triumphant journey for the 2019 national champion to win another title, having won all the heats she participated in at the event. On Saturday, she beat British athlete Vittoria Farmer in the quarter-finals, and today, she defeated the German Rachel Presti in the semi-finals, riding the best wave (8.63 points) and achieving the best score of the event with 16.80 points (8.63 + 8.17).
Hopkins thus starts defending the European title she won this year in the best possible way, earning precious points to qualify for the 2024 Challenger Series circuit.
The next stop on the European circuit is the Caraïbos Lacanau Pro, which takes place from August 15 to 20 in Lacanau, France.
