A MAN had to be airlifted to safety after his yacht went aground on an inaccessible coastal stretch 10 miles north of Sagres, close to Carrapateira in Aljezur.
A rescue helicopter was sent out around 9am on January 5 after the lone sailor alerted authorities of his situation. He was airlifted to safety without any problems and did not sustain any injuries.
Maritime police organised the removal of the vessel.
