Organisers of World Youth Day event (WYD) – scheduled to take place in Lisbon in August, in the presence of Pope Francis – have reiterated “there is no plan B” in case the 86-year-old pontiff actually is not well enough to travel. “There is no plan B, nor is it justified, since all the information we have received, from the Holy See and the clinical team, is positive, showing that the preventive surgical intervention Pope Francis underwent (this week) went well and that he will resume his normal schedule from June 18,” WYD spokeswoman Rosa Pedroso Lima told Lusa, adding: “WYD does not feed unjustified speculation”.
