A display of amazing football from some of the world’s most talented child players is promised for the ‘Mundialito 2016’, the youth football tournament held in Vila Real de Santo António between March 20 and 26.
Several top teams will be taking part this year, including Portugal’s ‘Big Three’ – Benfica, Porto and Sporting – as well as Barcelona, Atlético de Madrid, Valencia, Seville, Inter, AC Milan, Juventus, Liverpool, Ajax, Borussia Dortmund, Vasco da Gama, América (Mexico) and Kashima Antlers.
Matches will be played at VRSA’s sports complex and the Lusitano Futebol Clube and Grupo Desportivo Beira-Mar stadiums, and involve a total of 4,000 young footballers.
According to organisers, the ‘Mundialito’ is expected to generate €7 million for the local economy.
Last year, hotels were filled to bursting with a reported “100% occupancy rate” (click here).
The event is organised by the Ricardo Godoy International Football School with the support of VRSA council.
