World’s best young sailors compete in Vilamoura

Over 500 sailors from 30 countries have travelled to the Algarve to participate in the 420 and 470 Junior European Championships, taking place at Vilamoura Marina until next Tuesday, July 26.

The event promises some top-notch action with some of the best young sailors in the world facing off in Algarvian waters.

It is being hosted by the Vilamoura Sailing Centre, with its “excellent facilities and unique navigation conditions which are fit for all sailing classes.

“This European championship reflects the investment made in the marina, which is much more than just an infrastructure to welcome boats,” says Vilamoura Marina director Ana Leote.

“We are very happy to contribute to the elevation of Portugal’s name and its competencies, be it through hosting big sports events or through its marina which has been nationally and internationally recognised.

“This will be the ideal event to travel to the Algarve and see these young sailors competing in this unique nautical competition,” Leote adds.
