PSD, Portugal’s main opposition party, says former defence minister/ current foreign affairs minister, João Gomes Cravinho, has “a world of contradictions” to clarify about work that went wildly off budget at Belém military hospital. The comments follow a report in Expresso today that claims Gomes Cravinho was informed in March 2020 that the cost of the works at the former Belém military hospital in Lisbon was slipping. The minister has already intimated that he had no knowledge of this; that he did not authorise an increase cost in the works. A parliamentary hearing on this issue is due, but no date has yet been set.
