In Brussels today, following the extraordinary meeting of the European Council, Portugal’s prime minister António Costa affirmed that world food security “is at risk”, due to the war and blockade, by Russia, of Ukrainian ports. He referred to the “very difficult situation that many African countries find themselves in” but stressed the positive of consensus having at last been reached with regard to the 6th page of sanctions. “Russian oil has its days numbered in the European Union”, Mr Costa told reporters.
