World Cup: Play-offs

Republic of Ireland 0-0 Portugal
Portugal 1-2 Serbia

Star-studded Portugal fluffed their lines with two successive below par performances against Ireland and Serbia and now face the prospect of qualifying for the Qatar 2022 World Cup finals via the play-offs scheduled for next March.

Three countries from the 12-team mini-tournament will join the already successful 10 European participants, a by no means easy task considering the quality of fellow hopefuls which include Italy, Scotland, Wales, Sweden, Russia and Poland. The draw will be made on Friday, November 26 at 4pm.
