World class racing

Some of the most impressive cars in the world will be racing at the Algarve Motor Park near Portimão this weekend as the track hosts major GT and single-seater racing both tomorrow (Saturday) and on Sunday.

Motorsports fans will be able to enjoy racing from various categories including the FIA GT1 World championship, GT3 and GT4 races as well as the Superleague Formula.

The Algarve will be welcoming teams from all around the globe, with the Holiday Inn Algarve in Armação de Pêra hosting the Sumo Power GT team, the only UK-based team competing in the FIA GT1 World Championship, and both the Nissan GT-R cars will be sporting the Holiday Inn Algarve logos.

Stuart Hardy, Holiday Inn Algarve managing director, said: “This is the first time the hotel has become involved with this kind of promotional activity and I am looking forward to welcoming the team to our hotel and wish them the best of luck for this weekend.”

Meanwhile, congratulations to Stewart Macdonald from Albufeira, Tony Pass from Faro, Amanda Morgan from Lagos, Stephanie Allen from Portimão, E.J Murphy from São Brás de Alportel and D.J Harris from Carvoeiro who have all won a pair of tickets to the FIA GT1 World Championship.

All the winners answered correctly that the next stage of the championship will take place in South Africa.
