A series of workshops aimed at preserving traditions in Odeleite (Castro Marim) will be taking place in the village in May.
Entitled ‘Sabores & Saberes de Odeleite’ (Odeleite flavours and knowledge), the events are open to anyone.
The first workshop will be held in Odeleite on Sunday, May 5 and will show participants how to make artisanal soap bars.
The following three workshops will be held in Furnazinhas on May 11, 18 and 25 and will focus on the art of basket weaving.
A cheesemaking workshop will then take place on May 19 in Foz de Odeleite. As organisers point out, goat farming is a big activity in the local area.
Organised by the local parish council and the Associação Social da Freguesia de Odeleite, the workshops aim to ensure that the village’s traditions are not lost.
