Workshop on equestrian tourism

An enthusiastic group of Portuguese, British, French, Dutch and Romanian professional horse people took part in a workshop on “Equestrian Tourism” held at Pinetrees Riding Centre in Almancil last week.
The programme was approved by the Escola Nacional de Equitação, the Portuguese governing body in equestrian training.
Discussion was had on marketing and on working with hotels and specialised travel agents “as Portugal has a great deal to offer for horse riding holidays, with its friendly people, agreeable climate and of course the wonderful Lusitano horses,” said Bev Gibbons from Pinetrees.
João Rolim, from the Portalegre area, said the workshop was very beneficial and it was an opportunity to exchange views with other professionals in the industry. The course was held in both Portuguese and English by tutor Bev Gibbons.
Various aspects were covered, with strong emphasis on safety, customer services and horse wellbeing.
There will be a repeat workshop on February 15, 16 and 17 for those unable to attend the first course. To book a place, email [email protected]
