Two streets in the historic centre of Silves have remained completely dug up for the past two years as the consortium responsible for the works appears to have run out of money.
Silves Mayor Isabel Soares says the consortium doesn’t have the funds to continue the works on Rua do Pelourinho and Rua Nova da Boavista despite the Câmara’s pressure for their conclusion.
Opposition PS councillor Fernando Serpa says the situation has become unbearable for the people living in those streets who for the last two years have had to put up with a “total mess”.
