A new residential special needs school to provide care for people with disabilities will see the first stone laid on October 27.
The new NECI facility will be located at Montinhos da Luz near Lagos and comes after 10 years of fundraising for the project, which it is estimated will cost €1.4million.
Dra Maria Eduarda Santos, who runs NECI, said: “The project seems to have been moving at a snail’s pace but finally the day has come to begin works and we will be holding ceremony to mark this.”
