Working mothers

PORTUGAL IS the only country in the world where mothers with two or more children are more likely to be part of the workforce than women without children according to research from US magazine, Forbes.

The survey into the hardest working mothers in the world revealed that despite working mothers making up a large proportion of the workforce their wages were on average only 67 per cent of their male counterparts.

Maternity leave in Portugal was, however, some of the most generous, with women being allotted 24 weeks leave on full pay.
