Work to transform the Pavilhão do Futuro into a new Lisbon Casino should begin soon, according to a source from Estoril-Sol, the owners of both the new site and the Estoril Casino. The company bought the building in the Parque das Feiras in Lisbon for 15 million euros, and hope to finish all the building work by September 2005.
According to the Diário da República newspaper, the casino will have 22 gaming tables and 1,500 fruit machines. There will also be a theatre with seating for up to 500 people, and the owners are planning regular spectacular shows. Hungry visitors will be able to enjoy dinner in a gourmet restaurant in the pavilion or in two less formal restaurant areas.
The plans also show that there will be a large foyer area with bars, a terrace, a multi-use stage and temporary exhibition space.
