Women seek election for Algarve councils

Three women from the Socialist Party (PS) are running for three different municipal authorities in the Algarve this year.

Isilda Gomes is running for Portimão, Joaquina Matos for Lagos while Grace Batalim is running for Monchique.

According to Ana Passos, President of the DFMS (association representing women of the Socialist party), this represents a great deal because three PS women are heading for Algarve municipalities simultaneously for the very first time in the Algarve.

“Over the years, these women from the PS party have been doing their best to keep equality between men and women, inside and outside the party,” she added.

Foreign residents are reminded that they can vote in the local elections. For more information, please visit your local parish council.
