Women in Portugal receive 78% of salary of male counterparts

Despite doing generally better at school and in education generally than male counterparts, once Portuguese young women enter the job market, the ‘situation changes’. They find it more difficult to secure employment – and they rarely receive the same wages as men in similar positions. This is one of the findings in a new OECD report, which shows nonetheless that the situation in Portugal is better than it is for women in many other countries.
