Women artists help raise money for cancer fund

A total of €460 was raised for charity last weekend when the Women’s Collective Exhibition opened at Galeria Côrte-Real in Paderne.

Donated to the Algarve Oncology Association (AOA), the money is specifically allocated to the charity’s breast cancer fund.

Displaying paintings in a similar fashion to the annual summer exhibition held at London’s Royal Academy of Art, visitors to Côrte-Real were presented with a comprehensive selection of women’s contemporary international art.

Money raised by the gallery was supplemented when 20 supporters of the charity attended Sunday lunch, especially arranged at a local restaurant, O Alagar, where more paintings were on show.

The Women’s Collective Exhibition continues throughout the summer and entrance is free of charge. Other areas of the gallery display newly commissioned paintings, sculptures and handmade ceramics.

During the summer complimentary wines and canapés are served at weekends.

The gallery, which is open from Thursday to Sunday from 11am until 5pm, is signposted from Paderne, Boliqueime and Ferreiras
