Woman killed

A Portuguese woman was killed instantly when she lost control of her jeep and hit a tree in the centre of Loulé at around 9am last Thursday.

It is believed that she lost control of the vehicle because the road was slippery as a result of the rain. The body was transported to the Instituto de Medícina Legal, institute of legal medicine, in Faro and identified as 44-year-old Maria da Conceição Calheiros Fernandes.

The road where the accident occurred is known throughout the area as dangerous, especially when it rains. When the Loulé bombeiros approached the scene of the accident, their vehicle also slipped on the road, but there were no injuries sustained.
