A woman in her 50s died on Sunday afternoon while swimming at Praia de Faro, the national maritime authority (AMN) announced.
Authorities were alerted shortly before 3pm when the woman’s body was spotted floating in the water.
AMN adds that the victim was already dead by the time emergency teams arrived.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office was notified, while the body was taken to Faro’s legal medicine institute.
