Wolves’ charity dinner dance

A charity dinner dance organised by the Wolf Valley Charity Fund (WVCF) is to be held on November 6 at Vale do Lobo from 7pm.

During the evening, there will be a silent auction, raffle and auction with Vale do Lobo CEO Diogo Gaspar Ferreira acting as the auctioneer.

The dinner event follows the charity day organised by the WVCF on June 5 (see the Algarve Resident edition June 18) which saw more than 150 golfers take part in a competition on the Royal and Ocean courses as well as wine tasting opportunities for guests, helicopter rides and a chance to win a car in the hole-in-one competition.

Members of the community helped to raise more than 35,000 Euros during the day and the WVCF has so far raised a total of 40,000 Euros for charity this year, a sum that organisers hope to increase after the dinner dance.

This year the main charity being supported by the WVCF is the Associação Social e Cultural de Almancil (ASCA), the social and cultural association of Almancil.

ASCA is building a residential home for the elderly and the WVCF will be providing 50,000 Euros worth of furniture for the project which is hoped to be completed and open for use by February 2011.

Meanwhile, the WVCF will also be purchasing new beds for the paediatric unit in Faro Hospital and funds raised this year will also be put towards this.
