Water quality at beaches in the Algarve is to be tested throughout the year instead of only during the traditional bathing season between June and September.
The tests, which are to be paid for by the ERTA, the regional tourism board, are to help encourage tourists to visit the Algarve as a sun and sea resort all through the year.
“We hope that tourists will come to the Algarve in the winter months and enjoy some of the best beaches in the world out of season,” said ERTA President, António Pina.
