For the first event of 2018, the Algarve chapter of the Rotarian Wine Appreciation Fellowship will be raising funds to purchase a customised wheelchair for the disabled handball team sponsored by the Casa do Povo in São Bartolomeu de Messines. On January 18, a wine-tasting and dinner event will be held at Restaurant/Garrafeira Veneza near Paderne.
The “fun” starts at 8pm in the wine-drenched atmosphere of the garrafeira (wine cellar). Several wines will be presented and served with appropriately matched food. The wines featured will also be available for sale on the evening at special promotional prices.
The event is sponsored by Quinta de Sant’Ana. Owners/producers James and Ann Frost will be there to personally introduce the wines.
Price for the evening is €35, with €10 from each ticket to benefit the charity. There will also be a raffle with generous prizes.
In a press statement, it said: “Rotary has long supported the promotion of equal opportunities for the disabled in sport. We are pleased to work together with ‘We Are the Wine’, a recently-formed charitable association of wine producers.”
