Around 60 members and guests of the Algarve Wine Society were treated to a gourmet dinner prepared by Cédric Blanc, the Chef at Jardim do Vale in Almancil, on April 15.
As Cédric is Swiss, the theme of the evening was food and wine from Switzerland.
The meal started with an amuse bouche of ramequin tarte with leek, which was followed by a white wine soup and salmon trout filet with shallot sauce.
The main dish was sautéed veal zurichoise with rösti and dessert was meringue with fresh red fruits and double cream.
Wines were imported especially from Switzerland for the occasion. The white was Les Murailles, Aigle AOC Chablais 2009 and the red was “Crete de l’Enfer” pinot noir de Salquenen AOC Valais 2009 made by F.J. Mathier.
Membership in the Algarve Wine Society is at its upper limit, and there is a waiting list, but if you would like further information, please contact the Society’s Secretary, Larry Hampton, by email firstname.lastname@example.org.
