Wine lovers group Confraria do Bacchus (Bacchus Confraternity) is holding the 3rd Portuguese Wine Show from April 30 to May 2 at EMA, Espaços Multiusos de Albufeira.
Orlando Valério, member of Confraria do Bacchus, told the Algarve Resident: “We intend to inform people about the wine production of the country.”
He said that many foreign residents had attended previous editions and he hoped more would make this year’s event a date for their diary as there will be 45 exhibitors at the show.
A group of friends created the Confraria do Bacchus in 2007 in Albufeira. The activity of the organisation is based around a monthly meeting of all members, a dinner held on the first Friday of each month, participating in events of other similar groups, visits to wineries and taking part in seminars and lectures related to the subject of wine.
“We started off with 20 members and now have 51. There are currently no foreign members, but we have at the show a new British member who is a well-known wine producer in the Algarve,” said Orlando Valério.
