Wine season

Wine production in the Algarve fell by 14% in the 2010/2011 season, according to data from Portugal’s Wine and Vineyards Institute (IVV).

A total of 19,120 hectolitres of wine (1.9 million litres) were produced in the region and unfavourable weather conditions leading to fungal diseases were responsible for the lower quantity but not quality, said the institute.
