Chef Jonnie Pratt from Almancil’s Bistro des Z’Artes has teamed up with Rui Virginia from Quinta do Barranco Longo winery in Algoz to raise money to fund two ShelterBoxes.
For every cork pulled from a bottle of Barranco Longo wine, the two will donate €1 each that will go towards buying ShelterBoxes around the world.
Each ShelterBox costs €750 and Jonnie and Rui aim to sell 750 bottles of wine and celebrate each sale with the throwing of the cork into an empty ShelterBox which will be on display in the restaurant from this weekend.
ShelterBox is an international disaster relief charity specialising in emergency shelter equipment and delivering boxes of aid including a waterproof tent and lifesaving provisions for use by a family of up to 10 people.
