Wine Emotions opens new showroom in Mexilhoeira da Carregação

Wine Emotions, the Algarve-based company that offers a variety of wine-related services, is opening its new showroom in Mexilhoeira da Carregação on Saturday, December 12.

To celebrate the occasion, the business will host its 7th wine tasting event, featuring stalls from national and international wine and food brands as well as an art exhibition by Dutch artists Meinke Flessman and Eric de Bruijn and music by saxophone player Martin the Flying Dutchman.

João Marques, who runs the company with his business partner Rafael Cavaco, explained that visitors will be able to taste “hard-to-find” wines.

“The idea is not to showcase wines produced in large quantities. We want to show the small, craft wines,” Marques said.

And with Christmas just a few weeks away, the event will be the “perfect opportunity” for Christmas shopping.

“You’ll be able to taste the wines before you buy them and know exactly what gift you’re giving,” said Marques, who has worked as a Sommelier at Gordon Ramsay’s famous Claridges in London.

There will also be a charitable side to the event, as the 30-plus wine producers taking part will each auction off a bottle of their wine. Proceeds will go towards Portimão’s municipal kennels.

Wine Emotions caters mostly to the restaurant trade and has a varied portfolio of producers that includes some well-known names but favours small producers.

The company launched seven years ago and has had stores and showrooms in Portimão and Lagoa.

Its new showroom is in the São Pedro urbanisation, which was once a quarry.

It features a main hall, the showroom, offices, a wine tasting and training room, and a warehouse.

Tickets to the event next Saturday cost €10 which can be set against any eventual purchase of wine. Doors open at 2pm and close at 7pm.
