A wine label designed by Spanish artist Raquel Macías was voted the winner of an art competition which ran during the opening of the Arte Algarve Open II exhibition which took place at the Adega in Lagoa on October 8.
Around 350 of the visitors to the opening of the exhibition voted for the different designs, with the wine label created by Raquel Macías coming out as the winner.
The label will now be used for a new wine being launched by the UNICA-Adega Cooperativa do Algarve in Lagoa, the Porches Primeur, which has been described as being similar to a Beaujolais Nouveaux.
Traditionally new wines in the region are ready on St Martin’s Day and the new wine from the Adega with the artist’s label will be launched on November 12 with a wine party at the Adega.
Meanwhile, the Arte Algarve exhibition of paintings and sculptures from 36 international artists will be on show until Christmas with the third exhibition due to begin in mid January.
The Arte Algarve gallery at the Adega is open from Monday to Saturdays from 10am until 1pm and from 2pm until 6pm.
