Wine and tapas at Arvad Sunset Sessions

Quality wines and delicious tapas will be the main attractions of the Arvad Sunset Sessions, a series of events taking place at Arvad Wine in Estômbar every Thursday in August at 7pm.

Costing €40 per person, the events will allow visitors to enjoy live music, three glasses of wine as well as a cheese and charcuterie board and plate of oysters or partridges.

Bookings for the four-hour events can be made online on the wine estate’s website.

Arvad was created in 2016 on a property bordering the Arade river and overlooking Silves.

It was in this area that wine was introduced into Portuguese territory, the company says, said to have been “brought from the east by Phoenician travellers.”

Arvad has grown to become one of the best known winemakers in the western Algarve, producing wines made either from red grape varieties such as Alicante Bouschet, Touriga Nacional or Cabernet Sauvignon, as well as white grape varieties such as Alvarinho, Arinto and Sauvignon Blanc.

The winemaking process is led by engineer Bernardo Cabral, an award-winning winemaker.

Aside from the sunset events, Arvad also offers a selection of guided tours and tasting events.
