PORTUGAL IS in ninth place in the world ranking of countries with the largest capacity for wind driven energy.
The aeolic sector grew 32 per cent on the global energy markets in 2006 and Portugal has a possible capacity in terms of installations of 1,716 MW corresponding to 2.3 per cent of the world market, according to a report by the global wind energy council (GWEC) published in 2006.
Countries with the largest capacity for wind power were Germany, Spain, US and India.
