TO CELEBRATE World Children’s Day (June 1), The Resident has organised a special competition for readers to win a day out at the Aquashow Family Park in the Algarve, near Quarteira. The lucky winners will be among the first to try out Aquashow’s new water-coaster, the largest ride of its kind in Europe, new for summer 2006 (scheduled to open next month).
Aquashow receives around half-a-million visitors a year and boasts a range of exciting slides and water attractions including Slow River, White Fall, Wild Snake, Wave Pool and many more. As well as enjoying the thrills and spills of the water slides and rides, visitors can also play mini-golf and enjoy a visit to the Oasis Tropical Park, which hosts many exotic birds amid beautiful gardens. Aquashow is extremely popular with children of all ages and adults have a great time too!
World Children’s Day
The United Nations established World Children’s Day in 1954 with a recommendation that it be observed by all countries as a day to promote the welfare of the world’s children. In 1959, it was also the day that the UN General Assembly adopted the Declaration of the Rights of the Child and then the Convention on the Rights of the Child in 1989.
Commemorations take place in countries throughout the world with the date often being used to launch new national children’s health and education programmes and, of course, there are always plenty of activities and entertainment staged to celebrate the special day, not to mention promotions and competitions!
Why not celebrate World Children’s Day this year at Aquashow in the Algarve? Did you know that every year, on World Children’s Day, all children under 14 are offered free access to Aquashow? (Adults pay normal entrance fee of 18 euros each)
Competition details
The Resident has 14 Aquashow Invitations to give away, which offer free access for one person to the park, adult or child (no minimum or maximum age requirement, although children should be accompanied by a parent or guardian). The invitations are not subject to an expiry date, which means you can go whenever you wish!
