A ‘wildfire prevention seminar’ organised by Safe Communities Algarve will take place in the Tavira Municipal Library on April 14 from 4.30pm. The seminar will be followed by a firefighting demonstration to be held at the barracks of the Portuguese Army located nearby.
Organisations involved are the ANPC (Civil Protection Authority), the GNR/GIPS (emergency rescue service) and the 1st Infantry Regiment of the Portuguese Army, who have a role in dealing with emergencies.
The seminar aims to increase awareness of forest fires and the steps that can be taken to help prevent them.
