Searches by air, sea and land are ongoing today (Monday) in a bid to recover the body of a 56-year-old fishermen who fell to his death off rocks near Guincho, Cascais, on Saturday.
Francisco Ramos was “doing what he loved so much” despite weather alerts for the area.
He slipped as he was “checking on the conditions of the sea”, in the company of his nephew who “tried everything he could to save him”.
By the time rescue teams arrived, Ramos’ body was already floating “in a small cove”, but conditions made reaching it impossible.
The recovery operation was delayed until Sunday morning, but by then the sea had taken the body “during the night”.
Searches were extended but proved fruitless. The searches were resumed this morning.
