Adding to painfully confusing mixed-messaging from different ‘authorities’ at the helm of response to Covid-19, the World Health Organisation has issued a new alert, saying ‘international travel should be avoided’. Explains SIC today: “The WHO guarantees that vaccines currently available and approved are up till now effective against all variants of the virus” but irrespective of the sanitary situation in Europe improving “international travel should be avoided”. Hans Kluge, director of WHO’s European arm has reasoned that this is because of the “persistent threat and the uncertainties”.
