Healer Douglas Ballard returns to the Algarve at the beginning of September for another week of workshops and private sessions of healing and readings.
While he regularly sees clients at his home in Kent, England, he has also worked extensively in America, starting in Colorado and Michigan, where he worked with autistic children and stress, onto Los Angeles and, this year, to New York. His last working visit there was organised and hosted by Simon Kirk of the ‘70s pop group Bad Company, and his wife Lorraine, at their Fifth Avenue home.
In the UK, Douglas has been heavily involved with the formulation and implementation of the new registration system being introduced by the British Government for all complementary therapists. This aims to set standards and codes of conduct across the spectrum – a move welcomed by all professionals. The same model is being adopted by other EU countries and Douglas is going to Austria later this year to talk to the authorities and practitioners there. He will, of course, be fitting in time for his own special brand of healing!
It is this same training programme that Douglas is introducing in the Algarve. There are already two active groups, with more launched wherever there is demand. Students become probationary members of Kent Healers and work towards full registration. For Douglas, a course in spiritual development is very similar to a course in healing. “For me, they both imply working with spiritual energy, no more and no less,” he explained. “Of course, to complete the healing qualification you have to work through the training manual, but the practical work is the key.”
The existing groups have people who are purely interested in spiritual development, mixed with those who are working towards the healing qualification. Douglas works in a very direct, practical way, explaining the concepts of spiritual energy and then helping people to develop their own gifts and talents. “Most people become teachers, healers or mediums at the end of it all,” says Douglas, “but if they just incorporate this added dimension into their daily life, that is perfectly okay as well.”
By sharing experiences, doing practical sessions and having Douglas’ huge knowledge and experience helping them along the way, people will become comfortable with the concepts and applications of working with spiritual energy.
Douglas Ballard is available for personal healing sessions or readings, in addition to the group work he will be doing. For more information or to book a session, call Judy Sharp on 966 108 605 or e-mail her on [email protected]
