Algarve motorbike ace Ruben Faria has been invited to make his debut in the Argentina-Chile version of the Dakar Rally alongside legendary French off-road racer Cyril Despres.
The 35-year-old from Moncarapacho has started the Dakar on two previous occasions when departing from Lisbon, performing creditably while taking 34th place in 2006 but failing to finish the following year.
Meanwhile, the second edition of the Africa Eco Race will have its ‘shakedown’ on the Portimao harbour front from 3pm this Sunday before departing for Nador in Senegal two days later.
Back on a more level surface the FIA has confirmed that the Algarve Motor Park will host the first event of the 2010 GT Open season from April 16 to 18 before reaching Brands Hatch on September 18.
