While national cycling icon Candido Barbosa bid his sport farewell at last Wednesday’s Tavira road festival the oldest and most successful team in Portugal also looks set to lose a further two of its still active star riders. Andre Cardoso, second in the 2011 Tour, has already joined Spain’s Caja Rural, winner Ricardo Mestre is close to signing for either ProTour outfit AG2R or Europacar.
