Wet but healthy!

More than 100 hardy souls braved one of the wetter days in the Algarve recently to complete a five or 10 kilometre walk, or run, around a course in the beautiful Ria Formosa nature reserve at Quinta do Lago.

Despite the rain, the enthusiastic participants, aged between two and 80, enjoyed the health benefits of the great outdoors, and raised more than 2,000 euros for ACCA in support of children in need in the Algarve.

First in on the five kilometre race were Falko, Antonio and Leon, while Ricardo Monteiro and Graham Morgan powered home in the 10 kilometre. Christian Goodfellow also deserves a mention as he raised the largest amount in sponsor money.

The health run has grown in popularity since it started three years ago, and the benefits of enjoying exercise in the fantastic outdoors are evident by the smiles and healthy glows of all the participants. So look out for the next Health Run, join in and you too will feel the benefits.

Some of the money raised by the run has been spent on helping a young Algarvean boy, Micael, to have hearing aids fitted. The British Hearing Centre sponsored half the cost. Micael is pictured here with his hearing aids.
